Where you fit in
The Chemicals Technology group (PTX/C) supports Shell’s chemicals business, which includes Base Chemicals, Polyethylene, Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol, Styrene monomer/Propylene Oxide/Derivatives, DPC/Polycarbonate, Higher Olefins/Derivatives and Solvents. Our partners are predominately Shell Chemicals & Products and Shell Downstream Chemicals Joint Ventures.
The PO Derivates (PODer) group provides technical support to PODer plants as well as projects. During the last decade the PODer business has successfully gone through a period of considerable expansion with new plants in the Netherlands, Singapore and China. PODer is recognized as an important area for growth in Chemicals.
What’s the role?
Role covers a broad range of activities including:
Providing technology services and process expertise to the PODer plants in Shell Downstream and Joint Ventures
Support implementation of process and/or design-improvements
Driving and supporting process and basic design work and plant start-ups for PODer projects
Maintain and improve the PODer process design in existing and new assets
Coach and mentor young recruits
Depending on individual experience and organization needs, your role may vary and consist of a mix of the following accountabilities:
Delivery against the agreed milestones
Technology/design engineering programs for deployment in existing or new-built assets
Delivery of first-class technology services to the PODer business
Delivery and support of technology improvement, process development, plant inspection and Start-Up
Fill-the-pipeline-, and/or step-out R&D activities
Coach and mentor young process technologists
Adhere to quality standards and ensure that all HSE, Group, Regulatory, Quality, and other appropriate standards are compliant
Provide specialist chemicals process technology advice on optimal operation and plant performance
Lead and participate in margin improvement/energy reduction activities, technical audits, safety audits, etc.
Lead and/or support the delivery of new Technology Development Release program for new activities, ensuring appropriate support for successful deployment of the Development in current and new facilities
What we need from you
We are keen to speak to individuals who can work in a multi- disciplinary team of engineers, chemists, product specialists and diverse stakeholder.
Furthermore, we are looking for the following skills and experience:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering. PhD is preferred
Sound technology background with a substantial experience in process development and/or plant support in at least one relevant (chemical) technology area
Previous experience in at least one of PODER technology area is strongly preferred
Experience in projects is considered an added advantage
Excellent people management skill
Fluency in Dutch and English language
